Moser started out as a market trader after leaving school at 16. He moved on to selling cars and when he set up his own dealership, it didn’t take him long to clock that there were even better margins to be had from providing finance to buy vehicles than selling old bangers. In 1974 he and his business partner Barrie Pollock set up what would become Together Money, a lender that now specialises in niches including buy-to-let finance, bridging loans and SME credit. Over the years, the Manchester-based finance house’s loan book has swollen to £7.4bn. The workforce now numbers almost 800. Moser has stepped down from the day-to-day running of the business but remains Together’s vice chairman.
