Sir Peter Rigby is a British entrepreneur and investor who founded Rigby Group and continues to serve as its chairman. He began his career in the electronics industry and in 1975 launched Specialist Computer Recruitment (SCR) with a personal investment of around £2,000. The business later became the core of Rigby Group. Over the subsequent decades, under his leadership, the group evolved into a diversified multi-billion-pound enterprise.

Its early success in IT services—through the company now known as SCC—laid the foundation for expansion into real estate, aviation, hospitality and investment technology. By the early 2010s, the group was operating across several divisions and geographies and was acknowledged as one of the UK’s most significant privately-owned business networks. Rigby has been noted for his long-term view, family-business orientation and commitment to values of entrepreneurship, quality and social contribution.

He established the Rigby Foundation, through which the group supports education, community and technology initiatives. As chairman, he has overseen the group’s transition into a next-generation enterprise, with co-chief executives from the family now leading operations while he focuses on strategy, legacy and philanthropy. His story—from a small start-up in the West Midlands to a global business group—reflects operational discipline, strategic foresight and a willingness to reinvest in growth.
