The Soosaipillais began their global fuel giant from a maisonette in Weybridge while still in their 20s. They had met while studying accountancy at the University of Kent. Quietly and relentlessly they have gradually constructed a multi-faceted fuel group with assets ranging from hundreds of petrol stations and oil storage sites to oil tankers, ships and one of the UK’s most important oil refineries. Their Prax Group has in recent years expanded into South Africa and Europe. Turnover now tops £8bn and the workforce has grown to 1,450. Sanjeev Kumar serves as chairman and chief executive of Prax. Arani oversees human resources, planning and policy-making processes.
