Phil Brown is a British entrepreneur who established Causeway Technologies in the spring of 1999. His aim was to address the digital gap in the construction and infrastructure industries by developing software that could connect and streamline project accounting, supply-chain management and site operations. Under Brown’s leadership, Causeway grew from its initial product launch—Causeway Project Accounting—to become a multi-product platform used by thousands of organisations across the built environment.
The business secured major investment in 2021 and expanded its offerings through strategic acquisitions designed to connect every stage of construction, maintenance and infrastructure management. In January 2025, Brown stepped down from the chief executive role and assumed the position of executive chairman, with the new CEO taking responsibility for day-to-day operations. His transition reflects a move to focus on guiding the company’s long-term vision, scaling strategy and market positioning.
Brown’s career reflects a clear pattern of identifying structural inefficiencies in an industry, harnessing technology to address them and scaling a specialist software business into a global player. His work continues to shape how construction and infrastructure firms adopt digital tools to improve productivity, transparency and resilience.
