After arriving in the UK from his Indian homeland at the age of 13, Arora worked as a baggage handler and a wine waiter at Heathrow’s Pena Hotel. Now renamed the Renaissance, the very same hotel is one of 18 in his group. Arora also owns two shopping centres in the home countries, golf courses and a wider property portfolio worth £2.5bn. His property exploits began with a flash of inspiration - spotting that British Airways cabin crew often had nowhere to stay close to Heathrow. He converted a row of houses into B&Bs for airline staff, a venture that became very profitable and in time provided the capital for him to buy his first hotel.
