My Working Day – Abdullah Boulad – CEO of The Balance

As the leader of a company, you are there to set an example and to lead and inspire a team of individuals to achieve a series of business goals. But how do these business leaders go about their daily routine? We spoke to Abdullah Boulad, the Founder and CEO of The Balance, about his working day.

What time do you wake up?

I get up usually around 7 am.

What do you typically have for breakfast?

First, I drink a glass of water with lemon to wake up my system. Then I may go for a 30-minute run every second day. Then I mix my own cereals with nuts and a fresh mix of berries. However, I try to implement intermittent fasting where I sometimes skip breakfast. This depends on the performance needed during the upcoming day.

What is your mantra for the working day?

I can achieve everything I want, and nothing is that important to affect my inner balance.

As a business leader, is it hard to separate your business and personal life?

I love what I do, so business is a pleasurable hobby to me and part of my personal life. I consider my family the most important thing in my life which always has priority.

What are the biggest challenges you’ve faced when trying to grow your business?

The biggest asset of any business is its people, but at the same time, it is the biggest challenge to manage when the correct level of self-awareness within the team is not given. This can hinder growth and affect corporate motivation and happiness.

What advice would you give to business leaders who are looking to grow their business?

Love and know your business! This means that you only should do whatever you are passionate about and where time is not a factor. Also, find a niche and be an expert in it!

Who is your business idol and why?

I do not have any specific business idol. However, I have full respect for those who can motivate and inspire a mass of people without narcissistic attitudes.

Do you believe there is enough support available for UK businesses that are looking to scale?

Support for businesses is available more than ever before. And this is not limited to the UK.

What motivates you?

My biggest motivation is the satisfaction of my clients and employees, and to have a positive effect on their lives.

What is the best piece of advice you have received?

Believe in yourself and just do it.

Are you hopeful about the future of entrepreneurship in the UK?

Yes. Every entrepreneur needs hope to be motivated and creative to reshape the future.
